RPO — Trim level equipment record identifying factory-installed content. Browse RPO codes →

Can a VIN decoder reliably tell me whether a truck is an LT, an LTZ or a High Country? I am comparing three listings and the sellers all describe the trim differently than the window stickers I can find online. I want something authoritative.

Not reliably from the VIN alone. Trim is a marketing bundle and the individual equipment codes are what actually differ.

The honest way to compare three trucks is to pull each build record and compare the equipment lists side by side. Then the trim name stops mattering.

That is a better approach anyway. I care about the equipment, not the badge on the tailgate.

This is exactly right. I have seen a loaded LT out-equip a base LTZ. The name is a starting point, not the answer.
