How do I tell if my Silverado has the factory tow package?

NHT — Max Trailering equipment group. This code identifies a factory-installed trailering package. Browse RPO codes →

I tow a gooseneck with my 2015 2500HD and I want to confirm what trailering equipment came from the factory versus what the last owner added. There is a brake controller in the dash and a seven pin at the bumper, but that could all be aftermarket. What should I be looking for in the build data to settle it?

The trailering group shows as its own code. If the factory package is listed, the controller and the wiring were part of it. If it is not listed, someone added them later, which is fine but changes what the truck is rated for.

Check the axle code at the same time. Towing capability is a combination of the trailering group and the gear ratio, and people forget the second half.

Both are listed, including the max trailering group. That matches the sticker in the door too. Good to know it is all factory.
