How can I identify the factory transmission without a sticker?

MYC — Transmission identification code. This code identifies the factory-installed transmission. Browse RPO codes →

Customer brought in a 2012 with no glove box label and wants to know which transmission it left the factory with before we quote a rebuild. Is there a way to establish this from the build data, or are we down to pulling the pan and identifying it physically?

The transmission code is on the build record. Pull it by VIN and you will have the factory answer in a minute.

Just be clear with the customer that it tells you what it was built with. On a 2012 with unknown history, a previous replacement would not show up there.

That is the conversation I needed to have with him anyway. Pulled the record, then verified the unit physically. They matched.

Good process. Record first to know what to expect, then verify. Saves time hunting.
