Why are some factory options missing from the VIN result?

RPO — Factory equipment record identifying installed options. Browse RPO codes →

The VIN result for my 2017 does not list several things I know the vehicle has, like the sunroof and the upgraded audio. The things it does list are correct. Why would the result be incomplete rather than wrong?

Check which document you are looking at. A decoded VIN summary and the full build record are different things, and the summary is much shorter by design.

If you pulled the summary, you got model level information. The build record is what carries the individual option codes for exactly the things you mentioned.

That was it, I was reading the summary. The full record has the sunroof and the audio code both.

Common confusion. The short answer is that a short result is usually the wrong document, not a wrong vehicle.
