My build sheet lists G80 and I keep reading conflicting things about what it actually does. Some people call it a limited slip and others say it is a locker. On my 2013 the rear end will spin one wheel on wet grass sometimes, which makes me wonder if it is even working. What does G80 mean specifically?

G80 is the automatic locking rear differential. It is not a traditional limited slip. It stays open until it senses a speed difference between the wheels, then it locks mechanically.

That behavior you describe can be normal. It needs a real difference in wheel speed to trigger, so a slow slip on damp grass may not be enough to engage it.

If it never engages under harder conditions, the unit may be worn. They do wear out. But one wheel briefly spinning before it catches is how it is supposed to work.

That explains it, it does catch when I actually get into it. I was expecting it to act like a locked rear all the time.
